TiE Tokyo Elects Terrie Lloyd as Chapter President for 2026–2028

April 1, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TOKYO, JAPAN – April 1, 2026 — The TiE Tokyo Board of Directors has announced the election of long-standing board member Terrie Lloyd as Chapter President for a two-year term, effective April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2028.

Lloyd, an Australian-Kiwi serial entrepreneur, brings 44 years of business experience in Japan to the role. His connection with India began in 1989 when he led the first Japanese company to directly recruit network and infrastructure engineers from India. As part of these recruitment initiatives in the 1990s, he established and maintained an office in Dadar, Mumbai. Today, he continues his commitment to cross-border innovation with an active investment in a software company in Pune.

“I thank the board members for their confidence in me,” said Lloyd on his appointment. “Filling the shoes of our previous leaders, most recently Nalin Advani, is going to be a big challenge, but gambarimasu!”

Outlining his vision for his presidency, Lloyd added: “In accordance with updated guidelines from our parent organization, TiE Global, we plan to assemble a full board of chairpersons representing the core activities of our group. I invite members interested in serving with me to reach out regarding potential board nominations.”

“Furthermore, we intend to broaden our focus by integrating business networking and early-stage business development into our existing entrepreneurship programs,” Lloyd continued. “Our goal is to double chapter membership over the next 24 months to approximately 50 members. At that scale, TiE Tokyo can serve as an active gateway connecting local Japanese startups—whether founded by Japanese or international entrepreneurs—with TiE’s global network of chapters. TiE welcomes members of all backgrounds and nationalities, serving as a vital bridge between Tokyo’s burgeoning accelerator ecosystem and established global peer groups such as YPO and EO.”

TiE Tokyo was recently renamed from its former title, TiE Japan, aligning with updated TiE Global charter rules that require chapter names to reflect their specific municipal and regional constituencies.
